The Coach House

The building

The Coach House served the stables of a villa on Thornhill Road that came down after the war. What is left is the better half: a two-storey brick building with a wide arched opening, now glazed, and a courtyard of about six metres square that belongs to the house alone.

Inside, the ground floor is one room with the kitchen at the rear and the arch at the front. Upstairs, three bedrooms and two bathrooms, one of them under a pitched ceiling with a rooflight positioned so that you can see the weather coming.

Practical notes

Freehold, no service charge, and no shared parts. The courtyard drains to a soakaway rather than the main, which the surveyor will want to note. Off-street parking for one car within the arch, if you are prepared to give up the space.
